About GoADF!

Nowadays, the vast majority of Amiga software available online comes in ADF format. ADF files (Amiga Disk Format) are Amiga disks captured byte-for-byte into a single file - commonly known as floppy disk images. Any Amiga disk can be transferred to ADF format, making these files convenient substitutes for physical media that can be easily shared online or used with emulators like WinUAE.

But what if you want to use such a file on a real Amiga? That is where GoADF! comes in - it allows even beginner Amiga users to work with ADF files in an easy and intuitive way.

Main features of GoADF!

GoADF! offers many functions for working with ADF files on your Amiga:

  • Reading ADF file information - reads and interprets all types of Amiga disk blocks (OFS/FFS): bootable flag, DOS/NDOS, filesystem type, disk label, creation/modification dates, disk size, disk usage, and more
  • Support for multiple formats:
    • ADF - plain uncompressed Amiga Disk Format
    • ADZ - ADF compressed with gzip
    • DMS - Disk Masher Image files
    • HFE - images for the SD HxC Floppy Emulator hardware
  • File exploration mode (DOS disks only) - browse the contents of an ADF like a file manager: view files and directories with type, date, size and attributes; enter subdirectories; extract files directly to hard disk
  • Block exploration mode - disk editor style view, browse the ADF block by block; each block shown as HEX and ASCII
  • Antivirus module - detects any virus hidden in the image bootblock that is in the XVS library database
  • ADF to floppy writing mode - intuitive GUI with drive selection and format/verify options; graphical floppy image display inspired by XCopy
  • Disk to ADF creating mode - intuitive GUI with drive selection and verify option
  • Virtual drive mounting (AD0-AD3) - mount DOS and NDOS disk images to up to four virtual drives using adf.device (by Bjorn Fuglsang); mounted images appear as normal disks accessible from Directory Opus and the OS shell
  • Quick folder access - load all ADF files from a selected folder into the program list at once
